Event Details

This session will review key sources of legal information for case law, legislation and commentary. In this session you will also learn effective search strategies and how to perform practical legal research quickly and thoroughly.

Details of the preparation required in advance of this session will be made available to ticket holders in due course, and at least one week before the session. You will be able to download it using the link at the top of this page. Please ensure that you prepare in good time.

The Library runs this training session on multiple occasions each year.  You are only permitted to attend this training once. If you attend this event having already attended a previous session the QS point will not be counted towards the requirement for Call to the Bar. The Education Department reserves the right to cancel your booking.

This session is a repeat of "Effective Legal Research" QS from 2022/23.

This event is for members only. Whilst primarily aimed at Student members, there are a number of places available for Called members.

Learning Aims:

After this session, students should be able to:

  • Identify legal research resources to enable them to carry out efficient, cost-effective and accurate legal research.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of research strategies and when to apply them.
  • Assess the authority and currency of information to use in their studies and in practice.

Bookings and Cancellations

Members of the Inn can buy tickets online by clicking ‘Add to Cart’.  Please note that you must log in to book (if you have not yet created a log-in please register first).  Alternatively you can buy tickets from the Treasury Office by calling 020 7427 4800.

Unless the event sells out earlier, booking will close at 09:00 two working days before the event.

Cancellations:

Where we have a waiting list we will offer your ticket to someone else, so please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.
