Every year, the Inn runs competitions for two essay prizes. The topic is announced in July, with submissions due by the end of August. Applications for 2020 have now closed.

Middle Temple International Award
Middle Temple will continue to run The Middle Temple International Award, awarded to an original piece of written work of no more than 5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes), in 2021 following the cancellation of this year’s Award.
The competition is open to any member of Middle Temple, either currently training to practice law or within two years of passing the BPTC, and must not include submissions that have been entered for other prizes or awards.
Essay Title: Should common law courts afford any special weight to decision of other commons law jurisdictions in the 21st Century?
First prize is funding for the winning author’s attendance at the 2021 Amity Visit to Malaysia (dependant on the Covid-19 pandemic).
