The Harold G. Fox Education Fund was established in 1966 to build relationships between lawyers in Canada and the Middle Temple. Each year, the Fund sponsors two scholars to undertake a ten-month placement in a law firm in Toronto. These scholarships are now open to members of all the Inns.
The scholars are each awarded C$43,500 together with reasonable travelling expenses to and from Canada. Two lakeside furnished apartments in Toronto, minutes from the CN Tower, are owned by the Fund and are provided for each scholar at a subsidised cost of C$800 per month.
Events Assistant Manager
£35,000 gross per annum

In this full-time role (40 hrs pw), reporting to the Operations Manager, your role would be to assist in the delivery of high standard and cost-effective events and food service for the Inn’s own members events. To work closely with our event suppliers in the delivery of successful private events and weddings. To ensure that all event spaces within Middle Temple are looked after during the set-up, event delivery and breakdown. To manage all kitchen and service staff in the delivery of events and control all beverages consumed.

The Library offers a document delivery service to members of the Inns of Court who require documents remotely. Priority will be given to requests made for judicial purposes.
The service runs from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. During regular opening hours, staff will do their best to provide a turn-around time of two hours, depending on the size of the request and the order in which it was received.
Please ensure you make your request to one Inn library only; the Library will not respond to duplicate requests.

Assistant Archivist (12 month maternity cover) – £35,000 – £36,000 gross per annum

In this full-time role (35hrs p/w) you will support the work of the Archive department, to encompass work with the archive collection as well as the Inn’s wider historic collections, including silver, paintings and armour. You will be involved in member engagement activity (including physical displays and online outreach), the arrangement and description of archival records, the application of preservation practices and standards, and response to research enquiries. You will also undertake research and other collections information activities relating to the historic collections and assist with the co-ordination of the silver collection.

The Council of the Inns of Court is pleased to announce the launch of the next round of the Pupillage Matched Funding Scheme. Applications to match fund 2023-2024 pupillages and 2024-2025 pupillages are welcomed. The scheme encourages the provision of additional pupillages in those chambers (and other approved training organisations) whose work is predominantly publicly funded.

The following Middle Temple Representative on the Bar Council vacancy will arise this year and Masters of the Bench are invited to submit an expression of interest if they are eligible and wish to be considered as a potential candidate. There are three Middle Temple Representatives on the Bar Council. Details on eligibility and the process for selection can be found below.
The Executive Committee shall appoint members of the Inn who pay the Bar Representation Fee to the Bar Council to serve as the Inn’s representatives on the Council or committees of the Council as the constitution and regulations of the Council require and in relation to such appointments:
(1) the appointment shall, so far as is consistent with such constitution and regulations, be for a term of three years;
(2) the member appointed shall be eligible for re-appointment once only.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 15 September 2023. Expressions of interest should be sent to the Governance Manager at l.mchardy@middletemple.org.uk.
Expressions of interest should consist of a letter of application, no longer than 200 words, which sets out how they believe they are suitable for the role and their relevant experience.
