Full Title: Christopher Symons KCCategory: Ordinary Bencher Bench Call Date: 11.3.1998 Call Date: 20.7.1972 Bio: Educated at Clifton College and the University of Kent at Canterbury, Christopher Symons spent the first sixteen years of his professional life as a tenant in Lamb Buildings in the Temple, in the Chambers of The Rt Hon Sir Elwyn Jones, (later, Chambers of Robin Auld KC). In 1988 he moved to his current chambers, then known as 3 Gray's Inn Place, now 3 Verulam Buildings in Gray's Inn. From 1986-1989 he was Junior Counsel to the Crown on the Common Law side at a time when there was a small panel working below the Treasury Devil. He served as Head of Chambers at 3 Verulam Buildings from 1999-2009. As well as practising at the Bar, Christopher sits as a deputy High Court Judge, usually in the Administrative Court, and as an Arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations, often dealing with insurance and reinsurance matters. He is a director of the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund Limited, the Bar's Mutual insurer, and chairs the Audit Committee. He is also President of the Lloyd's Appeal Tribunal. Formerly Chairman of the Inn's Estates Committee (2008-2012), and currently a member of the Wine Sub-Committee, Christopher Symons was a Treasurer of the Inn in 2013.
