Event Details

This event is taking place in-person AND will be streamed live. This page is for tickets to attend ONLINE. To book an in-person ticket CLICK HERE. We will not be able to admit anyone in-person with a virtual ticket.

This event will explore how wellbeing and inclusion shape life at the Bar, particularly for students, pupils, and junior practitioners.

Framed around real experiences, the event will focus on managing stress and burnout, navigating disability and neurodivergence in the profession, and understanding how chambers, senior practitioners, and the judiciary can better support a diverse and resilient Bar.

The session is organised by the Middle Temple Students' Association and will take the form of a chaired panel discussion, with contributions supported by Legally Lifelong.

  • David Gordon Hughes from 30 Park Place
  • Daniel Holt from Farrar’s Building
  • Lucy Fegan-Earl from City St. George’s University of London (to rep the students in the panel)

Learning Aims

After this session, students should be able to:

  • Recognise and explain common wellbeing challenges at the Bar (including burnout, stress, and the impact of disability or neurodivergence) and how these can affect career progression;
  • Identify practical strategies and sources of support for managing wellbeing and disclosing or accommodating health conditions during training and early practice;
  • Describe the role of chambers, senior practitioners, and the judiciary in supporting wellbeing, inclusion, and retention at the Bar
