Event Details

In the spirit of Pro Bono week, Student tickets for this event are free of charge. This has been made possible thanks to the sponsoring of the event by Cansford Laboratories and the support from Dads House.

This talk focuses on family and children law and will assist all those wanting to be family barristers in the future. 

Domestic abuse including coercive control is a key concern for society. Courts and Judges spend a significant amount of time trying to help parents to best of their abilities. Domestic abuse tends to be a real important factor in children case, especially really difficult children cases.

This talk will be led by key practitioners whose experience will help inform the conversation around domestic abuse, help those wishing to help parents and children in family law disputes in the future.
 

 


Student members (including transferring lawyers) must attend all elements of the event in order to be awarded the Qualifying Session. This includes any lecture/talk/reception/dinner/speeches.

  • Recognise the role domestic abuse plays in family court proceedings
  • Evaluate the complexities domestic abuse brings to children cases
  • Assess the best methods for helping parents and children in cases which involve domestic abuse
  • Examine how volunteering can help your career
