Event Details

This event is taking place in person AND will be streamed live. This page is for tickets to attend ONLINE. To book a ticket to attend in person CLICK HERE. We will not be able to admit anyone in person with a virtual ticket.

The Middle Temple Students' Assocation (MTSA) are hosting this panel session discussing equality and diversity issues that can arise whilst practising at the Bar and how to address them. The panel session will be followed by the opportunity for those attending to ask the panel questions.

The panel will include:

  • Simon Myerson KC - who will speak about how people can change their practice to work alongside others religious practices & his website ‘Pupillage and how to get it
  • Fatima Ali, programme assistant at Bridging the Bar. As a full-time wheelchair user, Fatima is strongly dedicated to supporting aspiring barristers with disabilities accessing the Bar.
  • Simon RowbothamMiddle Temple's LGBTQ+ Forum 
  • Shanzé Shah, who is a Bridging the Bar Academy Coach
  • Yasmin Omotosho

Learning Aims:

After this session, students should be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of a diverse Bar to represent our society
  • Increase student awareness of their core duties regarding equality and diversity.
  • Understand who to speak to if they need help/ want to challenge any lack of equality opportunity. 

Links to the Professional Statement, wider workings of the Bar, administration of justice or a public interest matter

  • 2.3 Be aware and active in the pursuit of equality and respect for diversity, not tolerating unlawful discrimination, in themselves or others.
  • 3.3 Respond appropriately to those from diverse backgrounds and to the needs and sensitivities created by individual circumstances.

Members of the Inn can buy tickets online by clicking ‘Add to Cart’.  Please note that you must log in to book (if you have not yet created a log-in please register first).  Alternatively you can buy tickets from the Treasury Office by calling 020 7427 4800.

Unless the event sells out earlier, booking will close 10:00 the day of the event.

Cancellations:

Where we have a waiting list we will offer your ticket to someone else, so please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.
