The Hon Justice John Robertson Sackar QC

Justice John Sackar was appointed to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 2011. He is a trial judge who sits in the Equity Commercial Division of that Court. Prior to being appointed, he practised as a barrister at the New South Wales Bar for approximately 35 years, including 24 years as Queen’s Counsel.

His practice involved large commercial litigation, in areas such as banking, insurance and trade practices. He also practised extensively in the area of libel. He was called to the English Bar by Middle Temple in 2006 and is the author of an acclaimed biography of Lord Devlin, published in 2020.

Master Kate Davenport

Kate is President of the New Zealand Bar Association. She was admitted to the Bar in 1983, and admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1988 . She worked for Masons (as it was then known) in construction law before returning to New Zealand to become a barrister. Kate took Silk in 2013 and was called to the UK Bar by the Middle Temple in July 2015. She is a member of OuterTemple Chambers. Kate was awarded the New Zealand Lawyer Barrister of the Year Award in 2013. Kate practises primarily in civil and commercial litigation including cases involving contracts and torts, equity and trusts, insolvency and company law, land law, construction law, Relationship property and Health law.
