With the kind permission of the Treasurer, Paul Darling OBE, KC, this event, one of a series on Philosophy and the Law at Middle Temple, will take place in Hall, and will count as one of the Treasurer’s Lectures for 2024.

A discussion between Jonathan Wolff and Daniel Chandler about the philosophy of John Rawls, including his most famous work A Theory of Justice, and its relevance to contemporary issues in our society and the law. 

Jonathan Wolff is the Alfred Landecker Professor of Values and Public Policy at the University of Oxford.  Daniel Chandler is an economist and philosopher at the London School of Economics and author of Free and Equal: What Would a Fair Society Look Like? (2023).

The discussion will be chaired by the Rt Hon Sir Rabinder Singh, a Lord Justice of Appeal and President of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal.


Students and transferring lawyers need to attend the whole event including the reception in order to claim a Qualifying Session.
