This practical session will review the key features of the US legal system at both the Federal and State levels. Topics covered include researching the Constitution and where and how to find statutes, regulations and cases from the Federal government and from State governments. You will also learn about the usefulness of various secondary sources of US legal research.
Preparation will be circulated ahead of the QS.

Learning Outcomes:
After this session, students should be able to:
- Recognise and identify aspects of the legal system of the USA.
- Demonstrate the ability to research aspect of US law using a variety of strategies and research techniques.
- Distinguish between the different sources of US law available in print and online.
