This session will explore court preparation in civil and criminal cases.

The criminal aspect of the training will be delivered by His Hon Judge Enright who has identified a number of recurrent problems faced by junior barristers relating to handling of:

  1. Jury bundles
  2. Applications for Cloud Video Platform (CVP)

The event will deal with preparing jury bundles in jury trials, giving examples and identifying common errors which impede the effective disposal of criminal cases. The event will also deal with how to make proper CVP applications in criminal cases.  This session will identify the statute law, guidance and provide examples of common errors and best practice, preparing attendees to make effective applications.

The civil aspect of the training will be delivered by Aislinn Kelly-Lyth, a junior barrister with a broad practice. It will cover:

  1. Where to find practice directions and guides for different fora in civil litigation;
  2. Other useful sources of procedural knowledge
  3. Best practices for putting together bundles.

The session will be useful for those commencing practice in both the civil courts and the tribunals and navigating the various procedural approaches.
