Following the format of the traditional All Inn Dining sessions, “Preparing for Practice” will provide Qualifying Sessions in which Benchers, Hall and Student Members all sit together at dinner.
Each session will specialise in one or more specific areas of law, giving students an opportunity to discuss issues arising in those particular areas with judges and practitioners who have experience of them.
To meet our obligation of providing structured educational content particular topics/questions will be announced in advance for discussion during the course of the evening. These are emphatically intended as conversation starters. We hope that lively discussion will develop, which may move into all sorts of directions: this is allowed, indeed encouraged, and there will not be any assessment or exam afterwards!
Details of the preparation required in advance of this session will be published on the webpage once it is available, no more than one week before the session. When it is available, please ensure that you prepare in good time.
Students and transferring lawyers need to attend the whole event in order to claim a Qualifying Session.
Please note that there are certain rules and customs that members and guests are expected to observe when attending formal dinners at the Inn.
