In this one-hour webinar Nick de Marco QC will commence with a discussion on Law and Sports, followed by questions from attendees. 

Nick de Marco QC

Nick De Marco QC is one of only two barristers in England with an exclusive sports law practice, ranging across commercial, regulatory, sponsorship, agency, image rights financial fair play, personal injury, tax and competition law disputes. He is widely recognised as the leading lawyer in football disputes and recently acted Newcastle United in their dispute about new ownership with the Premier League, a number of other Premier league clubs in regulatory and commercial disputes, various Championship clubs with respect to Financial Fair Play rules and many leading international football players and agents.

He regularly appears in cases before FIFA and the CAS, as well as many arbitral tribunals and courts in England. As well as being the foremost barrister in actions against sports’ governing bodies he has acted for FIFA, various national and international football federations, the British Boxing Board of Control and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Accessing the remote event:

This event is open to Middle Temple Members and their guests only. Attendance is free but booking is required.

This remote event will take place using Zoom.  A link for the 'meeting room' will be sent by email between 12-24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Learning Outcomes

After this session, students should be able to:

  • Identify what Sports Law is, whether it exists as a body of Law or an industry defined category. 
  • Recognise what makes Sports Law significant and which wide range of issues that characterise it. 
  • Identify what work opportunities there are in the area of Sports Law.

Unless the event sells out earlier, booking will close at 16:00 the day before the event.

Where we have a waiting list we will offer your ticket to someone else, so please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.
