All members of the Inn are welcome to attend this event.
Isn’t commercial work really boring and lonely? Are commercial junior barristers actually ever on their feet? Do I need work experience in the business sector to be suited for the Commercial Bar?
There are many common misconceptions about the Commercial Bar that can deter graduates from pursuing a career in this area of law. Fortunately, in this session, Sophie will help to dispel some of the common myths about the Commercial Bar. In her 10 years of commercial practise, Sophie has met many interesting clients, worked on both challenging and exciting cases, and found herself in some sticky situations; and she is here to answer any burning questions you may have about life as a commercial barrister.
Sophie Weber is a barrister at One Essex Court undertaking a wide range of commercial work in both litigation and arbitration. As well as acting as sole counsel, Sophie has experience of being led in substantial, complex and high-value litigation in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. She also has significant experience of international arbitrations and has acted as an English law expert in foreign proceedings. Sophie is fluent in German, French and Luxembourgish and has acted for both German and French clients and firms. Sophie is a member of the Attorney General's C Panel of Counsel.
This event is for members only.
