Bar Course Scholarships
Scholarships are available to students undertaking the Bar Course whether it is a full time, part time or two part course.
In 2026, the Inn awarded over £1.2 million in Bar Course Scholarships.
When determining when you should apply, please bear in mind the following information, dependant on the length of course you intend to study.

The application cycle (from written application through to interview) must be completed in the academic year before you start the Bar Course. If successful, the scholarship would be paid in one instalment at the start of your course. For courses starting in January, the above timing still applies. | The application cycle (from written application through to interview) must be completed either in the academic year before you start the Bar Course or in the first year of your course. If successful, the scholarship would be paid either in two equal instalments at the start of each year or in full at the start of your second year on the course (if you're awarded a scholarship after starting your first year). | *Currently only relates to the Inns of Court College of Advocacy The application cycle (from written application through to interview) must be completed in the academic year before you start Part 1 of the course, or the academic year before you start Part 2 of the course. The Bar Course Scholarship deadline is the last Friday of October. The application cycle lasts until April, with awards being announced in May.

GDL Scholarships
Scholarships are available for students undertaking a GDL or equivalent course.
In 2026, the Inn awarded just under £190,000 for GDL Scholarships.
When determining when you should apply, please bear in mind the following information, dependant on the length of course you intend to study.

If successful, the scholarship would be paid in one instalment at the start of your course. The GDL Scholarship deadline is always the first Friday of May and the application cycle lasts until summer, with awards usually being announced the end of July.
