Event Details

The Middle Temple Northern and North Eastern Circuit Society would like to invite you, as part of the Inn’s ongoing commitment to host more events on Circuit for Middle Templars, to a Northern and North Eastern Circuit Dinner on Saturday 27 November 2021, from 18.30, at Liverpool Town Hall.

Coaches will be provided from and to Manchester and Leeds if there is adequate demand, so please do let us know at the time of booking if you would like to request a space by emailing c.bygrave@middletemple.org.uk.

Ticket Prices:

Student members - £30
Members under 7 years call - £50
Members over 7 years call - £70
Guests - £70

Please note that bookings are open at full capacity and social distancing will no longer be in place.

Students and transferring lawyers need to attend the lecture before dinner in order to be awarded a Qualifying Session. Other Members and Guests are of course most welcome to attend too.


Lecture Details:

Master Leveson and Master Goldstone will interview each other, thus providing an opportunity for them to have a wide-ranging discussion covering the many themes which have arisen during their very long and prominent careers. The discussion between them would likely concentrate on (but would not be limited to) ethics, standards and values; justice and the rule of law; career development, and inclusion. At the conclusion of the joint interview, they have kindly agreed to field any questions which the students have.

If you (or your guests) are unsure about anything on the evening please speak to the events staff on duty.

Non-alcoholic alternatives will be provided on request.

Qualifying Session Details

This event counts as one Qualifying Session.  Students and transferring lawyers need to attend the lecture before dinner in order to claim a Qualifying Session.

Learning Outcomes

After this session, students should be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of adhering to your Core Duties as a barrister in reference to the careers of Master Leveson and Master Goldstone.
  • Identify a milestone in one of the speaker’s careers that has had a profound impact on their progression as a barrister and/or a judge.
  • Relate what you have learned from this QS to your own journey to the Criminal Bar or another area of practise.

Bookings and Cancellations

Members of the Inn can buy tickets online by clicking ‘Add to Cart’.  Please note that you must log in to book (if you have not yet created a log-in please register first).  Alternatively you can buy tickets from the Treasury Office by calling 020 7427 4800.

Unless the event sells out earlier, booking will close at 12:00 two working days before the event.  

Cancellations:

Where we have a waiting list we will offer your ticket to someone else, so please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend by contacting 020 7427 6385 or email benchers@middletemple.org.uk
