Event Details:

Following the format of the traditional All Inn Dining sessions, “Preparing for Practice” will provide Qualifying Sessions in which Benchers, Hall and Student Members all sit together at dinner. To meet our obligation of providing structured educational content, each session will specialise in one or more specific areas of law, giving students an opportunity to discuss issues arising in those particular areas with judges and practitioners who have experience of them.

A particular topic or case will be announced in advance for discussion during the course of the evening. These are emphatically intended as conversation starters. We hope that lively discussion will develop, which may move into all sorts of directions: this is allowed, indeed encouraged, and there will not be any assessment or exam afterwards!

On 21 January 2020, discussion will focus on public law. Please give some preliminary thought to the following conversation starters:

  1. To what extent should Judicial Review interfere with political decision making?
  2. Brexit and Judicial Review – any effect?
  3. Do facts matter in JR and should they be challenged more?

No guests permitted.  Members only.
