The Middle Temple Book Club takes place on Monday 29 October at 6pm in Tasker’s. The book club will be hosted by HH Peter Murphy and we will be reading his book And is There Honey Still for Tea? Peter Murphy published his first novel in 2011, and has been a full time writer since retiring from the circuit bench in 2015. He has published two novels about the American presidency: Removal and Test of Resolve; six novels in the Ben Schroeder series about a barrister in London in the 1960s and 1970s: A Higher Duty, A Matter for the Jury, And is there Honey still for Tea? The Heirs of Owain Glyndwr, Calling Down the Storm, and (out next month) One Law for the Rest of Us; and two books of humorous short stories based in part on his own experience of the bench, Walden of Bermondsey, and Judge Walden: Back in Session. Using And is there Honey still for Tea? he will lead a discussion about the Cambridge Spies generation, the importance of research in historical novels, and character building in novels.
