This annual event, which is attended by Benchers, barristers and students, is organised by the Hall Committee who arrange for a distinguished person to speak after dinner.  The usual hierarchy in Hall is replaced with a seating plan which ensures that Benchers sit amongst students and barristers.

Qualifying Session Details:

For Middle Temple students and transferring lawyers - this event counts as one Qualifying Session.  To be awarded the QS for this event you are required to arrive on time and attend all elements of this event (please see timings at the top of this page).  You must hand your ticket to the Front of House staff on arrival at the Hall.  Failure to do so will mean that the QS will not be awarded. For Middle Temple Benchers - this event counts as a Qualifying Session for Commons.

Dietary Requirements:

If you (or your guests) have any dietary requirements please ensure that you provide this information when you book tickets.  If you did not do so, please inform the Inn no later than 14:00 two working days before the event.  When seated in Hall please make a member of staff aware of these requirements so that they can serve you accordingly.

To start:

Poached salmon, Champagne gel, pressed cucumber, borage, sauce Mousseline

For Main:

Charcoal roasted saddle of lamb, pea and wild mushroom fricassee, salt baked potato, lamb jus

For Dessert: 

Almond pastry, frangipane, brandy soaked cherries, vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate dome

Booking Tickets:

Members of the Inn can buy tickets online by clicking ‘Add to Cart’.  Please note that you must log in to book (if you have not yet created a log-in please register first).  Alternatively you can buy tickets from the Treasury Office in person or by telephoning 020 7427 4800.

Unless the event sells out earlier, booking will close at 14:00 two working days before the event.  

Please note: You cannot book a ticket online for another member of the Inn if that member needs the Qualifying Session assigned to their record. They must log in and book their own ticket, or alternatively contact the Treasury Office.


Student/Hall Members - To cancel a ticket please contact the Treasury Office on 020 7427 4800.  A full refund will only be processed where a ticket is cancelled 2 clear working days or more before the event.

Masters of the Bench - are reminded that cancellations received after 17:00 on the day before the event will incur the full cost of the Event. To cancel please contact 020 7427 6385 or email
