Have you mastered the art of the last-minute brief? Do you find yourself putting off important tasks, only to face a flurry of stress and late nights? You're not alone. Procrastination is a universal struggle, but its impact can be particularly acute in the demanding world of the law.
Join us at Middle Temple for a fascinating evening with Professor Fuschia Sirois, a leading expert in the psychology of procrastination. Professor Sirois will delve into the science behind why we delay, exploring the cognitive and emotional factors that contribute to this common habit, and share strategies designed to help you break free from the cycle of procrastination.
Professor Fuschia Sirois
Fuschia Sirois is a Professor in Social and Health Psychology at Durham University, and a former Canada Research Chair in Health and Well-being.
For over 25 years she has researched the causes and consequences of procrastination and how emotions play a key role in explaining why people procrastinate. Her unique approach highlights the value of positive psychology qualities and interventions, including self-compassion, for addressing procrastination and enhancing health and well-being.
In addition to publishing numerous scientific articles on procrastination, she has written a self-help book “Procrastination: What It Is, Why It's a Problem, and What You Can Do About”. It was published by the American Psychological Association, consulted on a TedEd animation about procrastination, and given a TEDx talk on the real reasons we procrastinate. She appears regularly on podcasts, gives talks, and writes articles for the public on understanding procrastination and how to address it from an evidence-based perspective.
