Handel’s much-loved opera is a tale of love between the nymph Galatea, shepherd Acis, and the jealous giant Polyphemus. The most performed of Handel’s operas during his lifetime, the tragicomic Acis and Galatea – based on an episode in Ovid’s Metamorphoses – was written for private performance in the gardens of the Duke of Chandos’ palace; woven through the story of love and heartbreak are idyllic landscapes and the soundscape of nature.

Early Opera Company return to the Temple Church with a star-studded cast. Featuring our Artist of the Month, Nick Pritchard, this promises an evening of enchanting music.
