ICAW (formerly the Temple Women’s Forum) is holding a facilitated hybrid panel discussion – Foundations for a Fairer Future. We hope that the discussion will help Heads of Chambers and Senior Clerks in their development of practical solutions to ensure a fairer allocation of work.
'It is a dispiriting reflection upon gender equality within the profession in 2022 that such an alliance is not only desirable and helpful, it is unfortunately necessary given the status quo.' - The Rt Hon Lady Justice Nicola Davies DBE
This event will mark the first step for ICAW in the implementation of their purpose and terms of reference. The event is guaranteed to be a thought provoking and eye-opening evening.
With a varied and highly experienced panel, Foundations for a Fairer Future, will educate those in attendance of the issues women continue to face at the Bar, and will provide possible explanations for disparities of income and representation. Qualitative research on this topic has consistently identified the same or similar perceived barriers to progression and retention of women at the Bar. It is imperative that these barriers are addressed to achieve genuine equality of opportunity and treatment within the profession. ICAW hope that by bringing these barriers to light within this environment, progress can be made to ensure foundations are put in place for a fairer future.
