Held in conjunction with the Middle Temple Society in Singapore

This event is open to Middle Temple Members and their guests as well as members of other Inns of Court, though guests are restricted to members only. Attendance is free but booking is required.

Event Details:

Join Middle Temple and the Middle Temple Society in Singapore for a collaborative event that will explore the fallibility of eyewitness evidence, memory, and oral testimony, and how to prepare witnesses for trial. 

This is your opportunity to hear from and question experienced judges and practitioners from both Singapore and the UK in a Q&A moderated by Master Quentin Loh and Master Maura McGowan.

Speakers will include:

  • Introduction by Master Maura McGowan, Deputy Treasurer
  • Singapore - Master Thio Shen Yi
  • Malaysia - Dato' Sunil Abraham
  • Hong Kong – Master John Scott
  • UK –  Master David Joseph
  • Q&A, moderated by Master Quentin Loh / Master Maura McGowan
  • Closing remarks by Master Maura McGowan

Accessing the remote Event:

This remote event will take place online.  A link will be sent by email between 12-24 hours before the scheduled start time.

It is preferable to join the event on a laptop, but if that’s not possible then use your phone/tablet.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this QS students will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate how to prepare witnesses for trial
  • Identify fallibility of eyewitness evidence, memory, oral testimony
  • Recognise the permissibility and extent of witness coaching/preparation/familiarisation
  • Explain the de la Sala case
