Master Patricia Scotland was Called to the Bar in 1977, took Silk in 1991 and was Called to the Bench in 1997. She was the first BAME person appointed as Attorney General, (2007-10) and the first woman to hold the office since its foundation in 1315. Master Scotland was the first Black woman, and the youngest woman, at 35, to be appointed Queen's Counsel. At the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, she was elected the Sixth Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations and took Office in April 2016. She is the first woman to hold the post.
