A Message from Master Treasurer
The four Inns of Court have been carefully considering how their existing policies and processes should be strengthened to deal with inappropriate behaviour and language and sexual harassment. They are in the process of agreeing new guidelines and training with the Bar Council and the Bar Standards Board.
Middle Temple recognises that some people may feel uncomfortable about raising concerns about such matters. But it is important that any such concerns are raised so we can address them. Moreover we must ensure there is an environment where it is clear such behaviour will not be accepted.
We encourage all members of the Inn, at any stage in their careers, to raise any such concerns in confidence within the Inn.
Guy Perricone, the Under Treasurer; Christa Richmond, our Director of Education and Colin Davidson, our Director of Membership & Development are available to listen, in complete confidence, to any concerns which you have. We are also planning to add to this group – more information will follow.
They are also available to assist you in deciding how your concerns can be taken forward should you decide that they should be. Their contact details are below.
We value our inclusivity and both educational and social engagement with you, the next generation of barristers. If you experience inappropriate behaviour or language, we need to know.
Richard Wilmot-Smith, QC
