Vacancy – Paralegal (in-house litigation)

Location: WFH/Crawley (once Covid-safe)

Start Date: 11 January 2020 (or soon after)

Term: 6 months (potentially extending up to 2yrs)

Salary: £23,500/yr

The Opportunity 

Our client has asked us to provide 2x paralegals to their in-house litigation department on a full-time secondee basis to assist their litigation department with civil claims. With the support of the principal solicitor & external counsel, you will be actively involved in a busy case load ranging from small claims to multi-track; including:

  • managing the pre-action process of a claim including formal pre-action correspondence, evidence gathering and communicating with opponents;
  • preparation of court proceedings, including drafting particulars of claim, calculating relevant interest amount and period, raising court issue fee and lodging papers online;
  • dealing with entry of judgments and registration of county court judgments with the high court including any relevant debtor letters;
  • preparing witness statements for court proceedings, including, where necessary, attending witness interview and taking notes of interview;
  • preparation of court hearing bundles for court proceedings. Including drafting index and filing the bundle at court and serving them on other parties; and
  • dealing with without prejudice negotiations.

 

The person – you will either already hold your BPTC or LPC qualification and/or have experience of handling claims arising in negligence/statute. A pro-active mindset is key; as are having high levels of organisation, influencing and communication skills.
