Having an Agile Career at the Bar | Opportunities for Career Returners and Movers at the Employed Bar

Middle Temple's Employed Bar Society and Talent Retention Working Group, in collaboration with BACFI, invite members of all four Inns of Court to attend this session about opportunities at the employed Bar for career returners and movers.

This event will look at:

  • How barristers can move between the employed and self-employed Bar
  • Opportunities for career returners such as after maternity and paternity leave
  • Different career options at the employed Bar

This event will be hosted by Genevieve Harris, an employed barrister in the Financial Stability Division of the Bank of England. Genevieve is also a member of Middle Temple's Talent Retention Working Group.

Our panel will include barristers who have changed careers between the self-employed and employed Bar:

  • Stephen Parkinson, the Director of Public Prosecutions.
  • Charlotte Pope-Williams, who has worked for the Bank of England, Pinsent Masons, and is now self-employed at 3 Hare Court.
  • Dan Byrne, who is an employed barrister, and partner, at AA Thornton, and a part-time Deputy District Judge.
