Professor Philippe Sands KC awarded prestigious Peace Prize of the German Book Trade

Congratulations to Middle Templar and author Professor Philippe Sands KC for being awarded Germany’s prestigious Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
The award honours individuals whose work has contributed to achieving peace, humanity and understanding.
The award’s trustees describe Professor Sands as “one of the most important intellectual voices of our time who advocates for justice, peace and the unwavering defence of international law.”
They go on to say, “at the heart of his legal work is a commitment to the universal rights of every human being, evidenced in his advocacy for victims of war crimes, racism, torture and colonial injustice”
“He is a committed humanist and author who, despite growing resistance, tirelessly fights for human rights, justice and mutual understanding.”  
This prize has been awarded annually since 1950 by the German Publishers and Booksellers Association. Former winners include Salman Rushdie and Amartya Sen.
