Bio:

Until 2011, Justice Harms was Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa.  He practised from1966 to 1986 at the Pretoria Bar, and took Silk in 1981.  He is an editor of The Law of South Africa and the author The Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights: A Case Book.  He has been actively involved in the drafting of intellectual property statutes, amendments to criminal procedure law such as plea bargaining, and drafted the rules of ethics for judges.  He occupies at present the Adams & Adams Chair in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Pretoria and is a door tenant at 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square.
