Born 1950 in Dublin. Educated at O Connell's School.
University College Dublin and King's Inns.

Called to Irish Bar 1973, Middle Temple 1981 and Bar of Northern Ireland 1983.

Took Silk in 1986. Appointed to High Court 1996. Judge in charge of Commercial List since it's inception in 2004. Appointed to Court of Appeal in 2014. Retired as President of the High Court in June 2020.

Former Hon Sec and Treasurer of the Bar Council. Former Chairman of Education Committee of Inns.

Current President of the Association of Judges. Bencher of Kings Inns. Adjunct Professor of Law National University of Ireland Maynooth.
