Bio:

Peter is a Senior Circuit Judge and, as the Recorder of Richmond Upon Thames, he is the Resident Judge at Kingston Upon Thames Crown Court. He sits as an occasional Judge in the Court of Appeal Criminal Division.

Called in 1981, (Blackstone Exhibitioner 1980; Jules Thorn Major Schol. 1982) he was a Recorder of the Crown Court from 2000 and  appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2001.  He is a former Chairman of the Criminal Bar Association (2008/9) and was Chairman of the Bar Council of England and Wales (2011), he was elected as a Bencher of the Middle Temple in 2010.

Peter is an advocacy trainer for Middle Temple and teaches on the South Eastern Circuit Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford. He is a Visiting Professor at St Mary’s University, Twickenham.

Peter is a governor of The Portsmouth Grammar School, and a trustee of Leadership Through Sport and Business - a social mobility charity.
