Tessa’s career started in communications as Head of Corporate Affairs for FTSE 100 Carlton Communications Plc. Following a second degree in law, she qualified as a Barrister, developing an interest in healthcare and clinical governance.
She was Chairman of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust from 1998 to 2010 where she also founded a new charity, the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign and was a Trustee of the Institute of Cancer Research.

She is a member of the advisory panel of BUPA and Board of Healthcare UK and a Trustee of the Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
