Bio:
Damian Garrido was born and educated in Manchester before attending the University of Kent at Canterbury where he graduated in Politics and International Relations. He obtained a Diploma in Law at City University and completed the Bar Finals at the Inns of Court School of Law. He joined Middle Temple as student member in 1991 and was called to the Bar in November 1993. He completed his pupillage at the Chambers of PF Singer KC at 2 Pump Court and accepted the offer of tenancy to practise in general common law. In 2006, he joined Harcourt Chambers to pursue his specialist practice in Family Law, from where he became a Recorder in 2012, took silk in 2015 and became a deputy High Court judge in 2016. He was appointed to the High Court in 2024 and assigned to the Family Division. He is also a contributing editor of The Family Court Practice (Red Book) and has co-authored Relocation: A Practical Guide, now in its second edition. Away from the law, he enjoys motoring and motor-racing, and is a member of the Goodwood Road Racing Club. He is married to Lucy Watts, former headmistress at Eaton House and now an education consultant. They live in London.
