Bio:
Thomas Allery is a choral director, organist and harpsichordist with a specialism in historically informed performance. In 2023, he was appointed Director of Music at Temple Church, where he leads a dynamic choral programme reflecting both the church's historic reputation for choral excellence, and his own vision to widen access to the English choral tradition.
Thomas studied organ and harpsichord at the University of Oxford, the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School. Aside from church music, Thomas is in demand as a continuo player in the field of historical performance and opera. He regularly performs with the orchestra of The Sixteen, and is a founding member of the award-winning period group Ensemble Hesperi, with whom he has toured, recorded and broadcast widely. In 2025, Thomas was appointed professor of Basso Continuo at the Royal College of Music, where his teaching draws upon his innovative research into historical music pedagogy.
