General Provisions

Only candidates who intend to practise at the Bar of England or Wales are eligible to apply. Candidate can only apply to one Inn.

  1. Scholarships are awarded annually after interview and the candidate's record and qualifications are taken into account. Where an interview is required, it is the Inn's policy, so far as practicable, to interview all candidates.
  2. Financial circumstances will be taken into account when fixing the amount of the award.
  3. More than one award or scholarship may be held at the discretion of the Scholarships and Prizes Committee.
  4. Applications for some awards may be made before joining the Inn, but no award will be paid until the successful candidate has joined the Inn.
  5. Major Scholarships will be paid in one instalment at the start of the BVC or CPE academic year. Pupillage hardship awards are paid as directed by the committee.
  6. The Inn welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. There is no age limit for any scholarship or prize.
