Each year, to encourage links between Middle Temple and University and BPTC Students, the Inn provides a modest fund to the Students’ and Barristers’ Affairs Committee in support of social or educational events organised by students at their universities or colleges, in keeping with the Policy formulated by the Committee.
The menu for each dinner is chosen under the guidance of Master Treasurer and Master Reader. One menu is selected for each event, and can be viewed on the relevant event page under the Inn Calendar. We ask all attendees to indicate if they have any specific dietaries or allergens we need to take into consideration. The Chef and his team will then usually prepare one suitable alternative, to cater for these requests.
The Inns’ Conduct Committee (ICC) is responsible for dealing with the misconduct of student members of all four Inns of Court. The committee is also responsible for considering applications for admission to an Inn, should anything be declared in Sections 2 or 3 of the Admission Declaration (Schedule A).
The ICC is made up of both barrister and lay members of the four Inns.
Academic Fellowship
To help foster a closer relationship between the practising Bar and academia, Middle Temple is looking to grant Fellowship to Academics who meet the following criteria:
Amongst its core purposes, Middle Temple cites “the promotion of diversity and access to the Bar”. It achieves this through a number of different means: from providing opportunities and funding in support of access to the Bar; to initiating and running the Temple Women’s Forum, and promoting mentorship and family-friendly activities.
The Inns of Court Alliance for Women
(Formerly known as the Temple Women’s Forum)
The Inns of Court are delighted to announce the newly constituted Inns of Court Alliance for Women (ICAW) under the direction of Co-Convenors
The Rt Hon Lady Justice Nicola Davies DBE (Gray’s Inn)

The 2023 edition will focus on some of the biggest issues that we have faced over the 12 months, not just at the Inn, but across society. Read more:
MTYBA is an organisation of young barristers whose role is to help ease the transition from Middle Temple student into the first seven years of practice at the Bar. It has three aims: to assist those who have been Called but who have yet to obtain pupillage; to encourage and support members undergoing pupillage; and to support young (though not necessarily in age) barristers in their first seven years of practice.
All student members of Middle Temple are automatically members of the Middle Temple Students' Association (MTSA). The democratically elected MTSA Committee is represented on all Standing Committees of the Inn whose work has a bearing on the interests of the Inn’s students.
The MTSA is committed to improving student life at the Inn by planning and promoting a range of activities that amuse, educate and inspire members to achieve great things throughout the year.
The MTSA officers are elected annually at the beginning of the legal year (early October).
