Following the sad passing of Master Paul Jenkins, a vacancy has arisen in the office of Master Treasurer. The Deputy Treasurer, Master Richard Wilmot-Smith has stated his willingness, pursuant to Section 2.26 of the Inn’s Statutes, to succeed to the office of Master Treasurer for the remainder of 2018 and has thereby succeeded to that office pursuant to Section 2.26.
Thereby, the office of Master Deputy Treasurer has fallen vacant.
Master David Bean, Master Deputy Treasurer Elect, pursuant to Section 2.28 of the Statutes has stated his willingness to succeed to the office of Master Deputy Treasurer and has thereby succeeded to that office pursuant to Section 2.28 of the Statutes.
As to the office of Master Deputy Treasurer Elect, Section 2.29 of the Statutes gives Parliament the discretion to elect a Deputy Treasurer Elect for the rest of the year. Masters Wilmot-Smith and Bean will be asking Parliament on 6 March 2018 to decide that an election of the Deputy Treasurer Elect take place in the Election Parliament of 23 October 2018 which is the first Parliament following the Appointments Committee’s decision of their recommendation for that position.
At the Appointments Parliament on 11 December 2018, the holders of the offices of Master Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer Elect may offer themselves for re-election.
