COVID-19: Updates from the Inn
[Page last updated: 15 June 2021]
The Library is current open (see opening times) and we hope to be able to resume other activities in the Inn later this summer, subject to government guidelines. In the meantime the Inn’s staff continue to work from home. If you wish to contact any department in the Inn please see the list of relevant telephone numbers or use the email addresses below.
The Library is now open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. We continue to run a remote document delivery service Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. We have resumed charging for this service. Full details can be found can be made here. Priority will be given to requests for judicial proceedings. We have a selection of resources that can be accessed remotely. Details on how to access these resources is available here. All other enquiries can be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 7427 4830.
Our current library exhibition features Charles Dickens's Legal World, and is accompanied by an online exhibition which can viewed here.
Events & Lunch
We hope to be able to resume a lunch service in the Inn, in the summer, once government guidelines permit.
We will deliver the majority of Qualifying Sessions remotely until the end of the academic year, subject to government guidelines changing in late spring. We cannot hope to replicate the full effect and value of the qualifying sessions which normally take place within the Inn and on circuit; however, with the help of many Benchers and members of the Inn, we will deliver a varied and interesting programme of free sessions. All QS sessions will be advertised on the Inn Calendar.
Call to the Bar
Call dates have been modified to accommodate the revised exam time table - further details are available here.
Emergency Assistance Funds open to Members of the Inn
The Middle Temple is aware that many of its members will be in financial difficulties as a result of the current pandemic and will do what it can to help.
Bar Benevolent Association
For practising members of the Bar, the Inns have agreed to work through the Bar Benevolent Association (BBA) and have committed a substantial sum to the appeal. Barristers who have held a brief are eligible to apply to the BBA for support.
Middle Temple Emergency Assistance Fund 2021
For students and pupils who are not eligible for assistance from the BBA the Inn has created an Emergency Assistance Fund, which is larger than the usual pupil support fund and is available to a larger category of applicants. Click here for further details.
