There are two competitions for Major Scholarships each year: one for the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), or equivalent conversion course, and one for the Bar Course.

Applications for both GDL scholarships and Bar Course scholarships become available on the website usually about 6 weeks before the closing date.

• Applications for the Bar Course Scholarships for 2024/25 are currently open
• Applications for the GDL Scholarships open in mid-March 2024 and close on the first Friday of May 2024
   

Bar Course Scholarships

The closing date for Bar Course scholarships is always the first Friday in the November preceding the start of the full-time course or the second year of the part-time course.

Closing date for Bar Course 2024/25:  3 November 2023 at 4 p.m.

Interviews for Bar Course 2024/25: 3, 4 or 5 April 2024

GDL Scholarships

The closing date for applications for the GDL Scholarships is always the first Friday in May immediately preceding the start of the full-time course or the second year of the part-time course.

Some conversion courses run for more than one academic year, for example from January of one calendar year to June the following calendar year. Students attending one of those courses may apply either before the start of the first part of the course or before the start of the final academic year. 

Closing date for GDL 2024/25: 3 May 2024 at 4 p.m.
