Event Details

This event is hosted by the Middle Temple Students' Assocation (MTSA)

Middle Temple’s Welcome to our new Student members

The evening will begin with talks from members of the Bar who will share their experiences at the Bar and how the Inn can help it's members. The Students' Assocation will tell you about the upcoming elections for the MTSA committee and explain some of the customs and traditions of the Inn.

This is followed by a reception in the Parliament Chamber and Queen's Room and then a formal dinner in the Hall.

Masters of the Bench, Hall and Student members will all be seated together, in the 'All Inn' format, instead of the Benchers being separate on the high table.

This event has the same content as the Welcome Dinner on 1 October. Students are only permitted to attend one of these events.

Student members (including transferring lawyers) must attend all elements of the event in order to be awarded the Qualifying Session. This includes any lecture/talk/reception/dinner/speeches.

Who can Attend

Members only, no guests

New student members of the Inn can attend only one the Welcome Dinner.

Called members are encouraged to attend to welcome our new members to the Inn.

  • Describe some of the Inn’s conventions

Links to the Professional Statement, wider workings of the Bar, administration of justice or a public interest matter

This session will not only introduce students to the life of the Inn, but it will also give practical advice on how to prepare for a career at the bar and the relationship of Middle Temple with its students and the wider legal community.
