Talk by Master Audrey Campbell-Moffat (The Hon Mrs Justice Campbell-Moffat)

For personal or professional reasons, not everyone will wish to practise solely within the jurisdiction of England and Wales. Some will immediately return to their own nations after qualification and others may seek to widen their horizons to international jurisdictions as their own practices mature.

Whatever the reason, this talk seeks to encourage you to think outside of the box with reference to your own career but also to encourage you to encompass the wealth of experience of other common law jurisdictions within your practices.

Formerly an officer in the WRAF, Master Campbell-Moffat first commenced practice in Lincoln’s Inn before moving to the Fraud Investigation Group. In 1992, she moved to No 1 High Pavement in Nottingham but left in 1999 to commence private practice in Hong Kong. In 2013, she was appointed one of only two female criminal silks in the jurisdiction and in 2016 was appointed as the first female silk to the High Court Bench, where she still sits. Audrey was a founding member of the International Advocacy Training Council and has returned to the UK on a regular basis to teach on the South Eastern Circuit Advanced Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford, as well as teaching in Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.

This session is a repeat of the same talk on 09 February 2021. Students: you are only permitted to attend this session once.  If you book this event having already attended the previous session your booking will be cancelled by the Education Department.
