Dr Colin King in conversation with Barnaby Hone.

Getting an academics view of developing the law, in particular Proceeds of Crime Law, Dr Colin King’s research is in the area of financial regulation and asset recovery law. He is a senior reader at the Institure of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS). In discussion with Barnaby Hone, a barrister and the current professor in practice at the IALS.

Dr King will set out how an academic studies what laws work and what can be improved. He will give insight on how academics study laws, which are proposed and in force, and how those studies are then used in practice.

• Understand the importance of rigorous academic legal critique.
• Identify the ways in which academics study laws and how these can be applied to your own/future practise.
