I n this presentation\, Professor Findlay Stark will reflect on some of the concepts informing the Law Commission’s current work on the reform of homici de law: see https://lawcom.gov.uk/project/law-of-h omicide/.
\n \nHe will contend that the Com mission’s consultation paper shows quite how undev eloped some familiar criminal law theory concepts& nbsp\;like the ‘correspondence principle’ and ‘fai r labelling’ are\, and how this makes assessing so me of the Commission's suggestions for reform diff icult. Although these concepts are being deployed by the Law Commission specifically in the context of homicide at present\, the difficulties to be di scussed are general ones that criminal law theory could and should do more to resolve.
