 ith Master Afua Hirsch\, author of Decolonising my
  Body and Brit(ish): On Race\, Identity and Belong
 ing\, and His Honour&nbsp\;Judge Edward Connell\, 
 about the challenges and rewards of autobiographic
 al writing. The lecture will be followed by a rece
 ption and an opportunity to network.</p>\n \n <p>&
 nbsp\;</p>\n \n <p>Master Afua Hirsch</p>\n \n <p>
 Afua Hirsch was called to Bar in 2006 and is a Ben
 cher of Middle Temple. Master Hirsch won the Royal
  Society of Literature’s Jerwood Prize for non-fic
 tion in 2016 for her first book – Brit(ish): On Ra
 ce\, Identity and Belonging. Afua’s 2023 book\, De
 colonising My Body\, was named the Political Book 
 of the Year by Waterstones. In 2019 Master Hirsch 
 was appointed Wallis Annenberg Chair in Journalism
  and Communication at the University of Southern C
 alifornia. Afua has written extensively for newspa
 pers and other publications and appeared regularly
  on Television and is the co-presenter of the char
 t topping Podcast\, Legacy.</p>\n \n <p>&nbsp\;</p
 >\n \n <p>His Honour Judge Edward Connell</p>\n \n
  <p>His Honour Judge Edward Connell was called to 
 the Bar in 1996 and was appointed a Circuit Judge 
 in 2019 and is currently the Resident Judge at Cro
 ydon Crown Court. In his spare time Edward is a fo
 otball referee\, campaigns against discrimination 
 in sport and sits on London FA disciplinary tribun
 als. Edward hosts a podcast called “Coming Out the
  Pod” where he interviews people about their comin
 g out stories and co-hosts a referee podcast calle
 d “Red or Yellow”. Edward played a leading role in
  establishing the LGBTQ+ Judges Association and si
 ts on the National Judicial Diversity Committee. E
 dward was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Law for
  his contribution and dedication to equality and d
 iversity in the judicial system.</p>\n </body>\n <
