ar has a long-standing reputation for being the pr
eserve of public-school educated\, white men. Powe
r and privilege can create abuses of power\, from
discrimination and disadvantage in entering the pr
ofession\, to toxic work practices\, sexual harass
ment\, judicial bullying and more.
\n \n In
her trademark outspoken style\, Jo Delahunty KC re
veals what life at the legal aid Bar involves and
identifies what can be done to change its culture
and image for the better\, reshaping the tradition
al image of a barrister in terms of the diverse pr
ofession it should be.

us Professor of Law at Gresham College and a Freem
an of the City of London. She won Family KC of 202
5 at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards and was vote
d The Lawyer You Aspire to Be at the 2025 Legal St
yle Awards. \;Behind these accolades is a sta
te educated girl born to (remarkable) working clas
s single mother. Jo is the author of We \;Set
The Bar \;and Domestic Abuse in the Family Jus

is practice covers a wide range of applications in
cluding public and private children law\, \;fi
nancial remedies in divorce cases\, international

tephen was shortlisted for \;Family Law Junior
of the Year \;at the Family Law Awards 2025 a
nd for \;Barrister of the Year \;at Legal
