Educated at Orwell High School in Felixstowe and thereafter at the University of Leeds where he was the winner of the Hughes Prize. A Diplock Scholar of the Middle Temple he was called in 1998 and thereafter practised from 6 Park Square in Leeds where he is now head of the recently merged Park Square Barristers. Appointed a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates Courts) in 2006, a Recorder in 2012, silk in 2013 and authorised to try Class 2 cases in 2015. Practices in Crime and Regulatory Crime with an even mix of prosecution and defence work. Former Junior of the North Eastern Circuit and member of the Circuit Executive of the North Eastern Circuit. Appointed a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Law at the University of Leeds in 2015 and is an accredited advocacy trainer. He lives in North Yorkshire with his family and spends most of his spare time trying to hide the purchase of his latest vintage tractor from his wife.
