Masters of the Bench

David Stockdale is a Senior Circuit Judge, the Recorder of Manchester and the Resident Judge at Crown Square, Manchester.  Educated at Giggleswick School and Pembroke College, Oxford, he was called in 1975 and practised for the next 35 years on the Northern Circuit from Deans Court Chambers, Manchester.  He was Junior of the Circuit in 1978 and Treasurer from 2008 to 2010.  Appointed a Recorder in 1993, he took Silk in 1995, specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence work.  In 2010 he became a Circuit Judge and was appointed to his present position in 2013.  He is authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge and as a Judge of the CACD.  He has been involved in advocacy training on Circuit and in the Inn.  He is a Governor of Giggleswick School (Chairman 1997 - 2007).
