At 36, I'm a late arrival to the Bar, my first career having been as a senior executive and consultant in public affairs and fundraising (hence the sponsorship role on the MTSA committee!). I have, however, been a Magistrate since 2002 and am now a presiding Justice at the City of London Magistrates' Court as well as hearing appeals at the Old Bailey and Southwark Crown Court.
I'm also a local councillor in the City of London and deputy chairman of its licensing committee, so it will come as little surprise that my legal interests are on the public and administrative side, especially around licensing and local government! I also have a long-standing interest in corporate governance and the constitutions of organisations and countries!
Within MTSA, my job is to try and ensure that we keep the prices you are charged for our events as low as possible by maximising the sponsorship income from Chambers with a Middle Temple connection; Law Firms; and other businesses that benefit from the Bar (banks, legal booksellers, tailors etc.).
