Call to the Bar
There are five Calls to the Bar every year. They are held on the second Thursday in March and October and the fourth Thursday in July and November. In 2010, there will will be a Call on the following dates;
- 11 March 2010 (Hilary Call)
- 22 July 2010 (Trinity "A" Call in the afternoon, and Trinity "B" Call in the evening)
- 14 October 2010 (Trinity "C"), and
- 25 November 2010 (Michaelmas Call)
Students can be Called to the Bar once they have successfully completed the Bar Professional Training Course (or Bar Vocational Course) and have been credited with 12 Qualifying Sessions. Attendance at the meal after the Call ceremony can be credited as the 12th and final session.
The Call Form, together with a sheet of general information must be submitted in hard copy, printed on one side of the paper only, signed and dated.
Applications can be submitted before BVC results have been confirmed, and before all Qualifying Sessions have been completed, but a Call to the Bar may only take place when all pre-conditions are met.
