From the first performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night in 1602, Middle Temple has had a rich tradition of staging and supporting a wide range of artistic and cultural projects and performances, many of which take place in the Inn’s magnificent Elizabethan Hall. The Inn remains keen to continue this tradition, recognising how these events enrich the life of the Inn, providing enjoyment to members and visitors and enhancing the reputation of Middle Temple.
These events may be organised, staged and produced by third parties on a commercial basis, or they may be supported by the Inn in some way. In order to distinguish between the two categories, and to clarify on what grounds the Inn might agree to provide support for an event, the Inn has created a “Middle Temple Arts & Culture Programme” policy.
